PROFILE

My professional and personal values which include respect, hard work, and honesty, began long before I ever embarked on a career in the golf industry. Growing up on a farm in Virginia, I learned these key traits from my parents and the local community. I feel these values are the foundation of a quality career and lifestyle.

In 2002, I graduated from Virginia Tech and was rewarded in the form of an excellent job offer—an Assistant Superintendent’s position at Bethpage State Park in Long Island, New York. I was officially charged as the Assistant on the Black Course, which had just hosted the 2002 US Open. Under the tutelage of well-known and respected Bethpage Superintendent Craig Currier, I learned many cultural practices that gave me superior knowledge of managing cool season grasses.

Although I enjoyed my experience in the Northeast and at Bethpage, an opportunity arose for me to return to Virginia and I took it. This led to work at Traditions at Stonehouse before I accepted a position at Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head Island. I was part of the reconstruction with Pete Dye. This massive project entailed a completely rebuilt irrigation system along with redesigning and shaping the entire course. Throughout my time at Sea Pines Resort, I developed my agronomic and management skills to a level of very high competence.

In 2012 I was rewarded with my first opportunity to serve as a Golf Course Superintendent. Bishops Gate Golf Community hired me to oversee a complete overhaul of the course and serve as their superintendent. Here we successfully completed the renovation, creating a unique 11-hole setup that plays as 18 holes with varying tees and doublegreens. We also created a state-of-the-art practice facility and new maintenance facility.

All of this experience has led to my most challenging tenure yet, as the head of Walt Disney World Golf maintenance. I directly oversee the entire operation of multiple courses and facilities, where we are working to continually improve conditions and guest experiences.

I am a highly-qualified superintendent due to my many years experience at some of the best facilities in the world. I have studied under and with peers offering many different managerial styles, enabling me to create a style that works best for the club I have the honor of representing. With my continued hard work, honesty, and respect for the industry, I am excited to continue advancing my career.
